Unable to exchange genuine merchandise

On the 12th of January, 2013, I attempted to exchange a genuine Guess shirt at Guess Fourways. Upon arrival, I requested the service and was informed that, without the receipt, I wouldn't be able to be reimbursed as it was 'against business policy'. The Consumer Rights Protection Acts state that it is my right to exchange genuine merchandise without a receipt. On the 14th, I approached the manager and I requested the service - with the receipt in my possession. This time, I was informed that I wouldn't be able to exchange the item as the float for the day was miscalculated and no sales had been made yet. I continued to explain to the manager that it was my right to exchange the item, to which he responded, 'I can't do anything for you'. I asked whether he could use his personal money to complete my request, which he could retrieve later, once some sales had been made - he condescendingly replied, "that's not how business works". I am astounded that I have tried twice to exchange this item - patiently - and have still not been successful. I am disappointed in the lack of concern I have been shown and am deeply angered at the poor behaviour I have witnessed. I expect more from Guess.
