Unfair service (Monthly Payments)

In February 2013, I purchased goods at Edgars and paid my account on the very same day. I then gave a courtesy call today to check on my account status and to my surprise I was told that the account is in areas. Now the problem I have been having is that I didn't receive any email or statement notifying that there was an amount due in February because of 1) The post office strike and 2) Their system didn't send me an online statement. Now my ITC is in ruin because my February payment did not reflect as an instalment for that month but rather a settlement and a new instalment is calculated on your purchase. I then called the call centre and they told me that the process is irreversible and your ITC profile has already been updated as a default payment. Now the problem i have is how was i supposed to guess that i still need to pay a further amount for the month of February and two the amount that i needed to pay if 1) I didn't get a statement 2) Nobody from Edgars called me. Its strange that they contact the ITC without letting me their client know of the payment due in anyway. I demand better service having been an Edgars client for over 4 years without ever missing a payment.
