Daylight - check your change

Went to Spar yesterday to purchase a few items. When given the change I noticed I had been given 5c short. I ignored it as a simple human error. My 11 year old daughter was directly after me with her pocket money and a chocolate. Lo and behold she was short changed 5c too. I asked the cashier why she was shortchanging and she said she had no 5c coins. She could surely have got change from one of the other cashiers? I went to the manager and explained what happened but he was not too interested in my complaint simply telling me they should have given me 10c change but doing nothing to fix the problem (e.g.by offering me the 10c). He further stipulated that 5c coins are being discontinued - go figure!
It is not so much the 5c that has my back up but the principles. Start adding up all those 5c "profits" and it makes a tidy little sum at the expense of the consumer. It is then also the way that the cashier does noe even bother to tell you she is short changing, she simply does it. I should go lay a charge of against the Spar!!

Moral of the story - if you are shopping at Spar Karaglen make sure you check your change!
