Refuse to assist with returns

I purchased two pants for my son. That was in August 2012 and my son lived in JHB at the time. He tried to return them there for a bigger size but was refused as he was not the account holder said by the teller. He returned in January 2013 and asked me to exchange them. I went to the store to return with my purchase slip and the pants still had the tickets on. I was refused by the store manager because she said it was past the return policy date. I tried to explain the above to her but she refused to return them even she acknowledged that she sees that the items are in perfect conditions. She said if I am unhappy I can call the call centre which I did on 28/01/2012. They said it is the store manager who has to make a discussion. Now is this not passing the buck. I am a 15 year customer to the supplier. I have never in 15 years defaulted in my account. I am not asking for a credit only to be able to exchange. I am very disappointed with them.
