On 6 Jan I bought a Defy 272 LT B/F fridge (on promotion) at Game S Mall. I paid in full plus R170 for delivery. Logan (salesman) promised delivery on 1 Feb to my new address in Rondebosch. He confirmed stock availability, with dispatch from a w/house near the S. Suburbs.
On 1 Feb with my old fridge/freezer's contents in coolbags, I waited for my new fridge. After fruitless calls to Logan I learned that my fridge was damaged and they would deliver a substitute only on Monday 3/2! This, during very hot weather! I then spoke to Gerrie - floor manager (?) who unhelpfully stated that buying an item (even if cash) guaranteed neither availability nor delivery! What?!
Game had 26 days to reserve a unit and ensure delivery on time. Clearly they didn't, and were obliged to deliver a shopworn unit to me. He finally agreed to deliver later that day.
It arrived about 5 pm by which time my perishable food had spoiled. Also, the delivery people left no documentation behind. The fridge is scratched. I must insist that Game replace it with a brand new unit ASAP, and reimburse me for about R150 for the spoiled food.
Shocking service, aggravated by indifferent & unhelpful attitude from the staff
