Broken wedding gift

Trust all is well. We received two lamps as a wedding gift from @home. We didn't open a gift registry at @home, because they were very unhelpful from the beginning. Unfortunately a guest bought two lovely and expensive lamps from @home- the one is broken.
We took the lamp to @home in centurion. The manager called this week and simply said they couldn't help, because the customer must have broken it. I explained to her that it was a wedding gift, gift wrapped in @home paper (we took the box to them with the gift wrap), thus how could they or us have broken it. She doesn't offer to fix the R800 lamp or even to exchange it. Then she said she wants the receipt. Now I called the guests, but they are still on holiday. I don't like it to bother them on their holiday when they bought us an expensive gift. Can't @home fix the R800 wedding gift? What type of quality is it? Other shops assist us in a blink of an eye, because they can see it is brand new, still in the box, the tags are still on- imagine if we had to get the receipt for each of our gifts. Really tired of @home's unprofessional service and lack of assisting their customers. Thanks
