PLASTIC BLINDS

I purchased PVC blinds for my caravan. Installed them and 2 days later they all bent from the sun. I went back to them and complained about it and the sales person said to me you cannot have direct sunlight on the blinds. Can somebody tell me why does a person put blinds or curtains up.
