Treated customer like a criminal

I went to Pick 'n Pay at Woodmead Retail Park to buy an Aramex sleeve. They keep the sleeves in a little kiosk section just in front of the tills. I took a sleeve and wanted to continue with the rest of my shopping. An employee of Pick 'n Pay came running up to me saying that I cannot take the sleeve with me to do the rest of my shopping. I asked her why I will not it but she snatched the sleeve from me and told me that I cannot take it with me. That she will wait near the tills until I have collect by other stuff and then she will give it to me when I reached the till.

I was so upset that I just grabbed a sandwich, didn't even bother with the rest of my shopping and went straight to the till. When it was my turn at one of the tills, this lady comes and hands the sleeve to the teller and not to me. Really I have never in my life been treated like a criminal. I am now so reluctant to go back to Pick 'n Pay as I am wondering will I get treated like this again.
