Pick 'n Pay
All these tills and no-one serving!

Shops, Products, Services

I have just returned very frustrated from Pick 'n Pay Hyper in Woodmead.
My husband and I had completed our shopping, and with a full trolley arrived at the check-out area.
Out of the thirty or so tills only four or five were manned, each with a queue of four or five patrons in front of them. Being a weekday morning most of these people were doing large purchases, some even with more than one trolley. We waited for a while then my wife approached a small group of the many Pick 'n Pay staff just milling around behind the tills obviously with nothing better to do, and asked if anyone could open more tills, they just blanked her and walked away. She then went to the manager's office to ask the same thing, and someone from that office followed her out, apparently to help, but still no extra cashiers arrived.
A few minutes more of waiting and we dumped our full trolley where it was and walked out, I stopped in manager's office on the way out just to tell them they had lost a customer.
I went later on to the smaller Pick 'n Pay in Sunninghill, got what I needed, walked straight up to an open till, and a smiling face and was out in a few minutes, what a difference!
