Nightmare laces

My Salomon shoes, which are the most expensive shoes I've ever bought and are, without a doubt, the most comfortable ever, have turned into the bane of my life. My puppy ate through one of the laces. They are rather specialised laces, unnecessarily so, I think. I bought replacement laces at almost R100 a pair and then took an hour to replace the damaged lace, with lots of swearing and lots of aggravation. Surely, this is unnecessary!!
