I went to shop for party snacks for my son's birthday party today at the Pick 'n Pay in the Crescent Shopping Centre, Umhlanga Ridge. I paid for the items but there was no one there to pack the items. When I asked the cashier if I was required to pack them, she called her floor supervisor and asked her if she could organize a packer. Her supervisor ignored her request and proceeded to assist other cashiers. The cashier who'd served me continued to help the next customer. When I asked her to assist me in packing my items she told me it wasn't her job to help me pack. I told her in other stores, cashiers help their customers pack if they don't have a packer. Regardless, I packed my shopping and left. In hindsight, the experience has made me question whether it is company policy to provide packers for their customers or is the customer expected to pack their own shopping?
I hope someone can enlighten me on how retail stores like Pick 'n Pay deal with their cashier points.
