Returning an item for exchange gone wrong

I went to return/exchange a dress I had purchased but I had lost the receipt. I was told I could get a gift card but not cash however they were offline so I would have 2 exchange with something else to the item value (R300). I then got the items I wanted but they amounted to R289, 95. They told me they couldn't give me the change which I understood & said they could keep it. However they said the system would not allow them to process the exchange because of the R10, 05 remaining. Firstly them being offline for gift cards was not my problem, I compromised & took something else to exchange with & now because of a lousy R10 I was told they can't help me. I asked for the manager which I must say I wish I hadn't. She initially spoke to me on the phone & told me its not her problem I lost my slip & that I should either take something else & pay the difference or go home & come back the following day. I blatently refused & asked to speak to her in person. Shegot there didn't even greet & asked me what I want her to do? I explained to her that their problems should not inconvenience me, all she did was roll her eyes at me & face the other direction as
