Selling 2nd hand goods at full price

We went to Boardmans and bought an electric pressure cooker. The box was opened but we were assured that it was just from customers opening the box (!!!), even the packet containing the power cable was ripped open! We then had endless problems with the device and ended up having to get it replaced. The new device works like a charm, but open opening this box we realised that this item MUST have been used before. The pressure release valve was fitted to the lid of the initial one, yet in the replacement, this part was in a seperate box and we had to put it on ourselves, the base showed signs of scuffing and there was a large sticker on the new item, yet this was not present on the initial device. What irks me the most is that when we asked about the box being opened the cashier claimed that it was just customers that opened it., for the release valve to have been fitted, it would have to be opened, the lid taken off the packet removed off the inner part, then the box taken out and opened before being repacked (and no this was not the demo item, and if it was they should have mentioned this) but selling this device as new for full price is just UNACCEPTABLE.
