I purchased a corner lounge unit with wide armrests. These armrests have collapsed in and the supplier is saying they will not cover the guarantee due to misuse of the armrest. This is without them even inspecting the unit, only seeing a photo from the outside. We subsequently undid the upholstery at the bottom and lifted it up to see the damaged area. They have used 2mm plywood/cardboard as the main top of the armrest with only the side chipboard as support with the foam on top. These arm rest are approx. 300x600 in size. Surely Plywood cannot be used over this distance without any underneath support? One would expect that Just leaning on the armrest to lift yourself from the low unit should not cause it to break.
They have been sent photographs of the wood but are still denying my claim for repair or replacement. They have offered to repair it at my cost which is not acceptable.
