Bad service and attitude ruined stork party joy

We're expecting our first child and my wife and I went to toys r us to register a gift registry for her surprise stork party. Keeping everything (who organises it, when it will be, etc) a secret/surprise is very important to us and to her friend who is the organiser.
We had an entirely miserable experience. Firstly: the girl working in the baby department were typing on her cellphone the entire time and was completely uninterested in helping us at all. Even when we asked!

Secondly, at the main checkout counters the woman working behind the till insisted that we need to fill in the name and cellphone of the organiser. I explained that this is supposed to be a surprise and that they can contact me if need be since I'll ensure the right person receives all the info. She kept on badgering my wife for her "ignorance of how these things work". Then another girl working there "chipped in" and stated that my wife is welcome to NOT have a register there when we mentioned that insisting on the name of an organiser does not make sense for people who want to have it as a surprise. They snottily informed us that "Usually the organiser picks the gifts". Our entire day was ruined by this ;(
