Billed for “FREE” Thank you Points

I bought a few items from Legit Wonderpark (Pta) on the 24th Sept 2013.
I was buying these with my "FREE THANK U" points, but when I got home I realised that the cashier loaded the items under my credit/account instead of using the points.

Points: R667.96
Actual Purchase: R859.91. (The difference was meant to be loaded on my account, so that is not a problem).

I sent an email to accounts for assistance and they logged a case - 2509130093/GO.

Now they are insisting that I go back to the same store to get the account rectified. I am not based in Pretoria, I happened to be there on that day.

NOW!! Spending R600.00 on fuel, just trying to get R667 points does not make financial sense.
Please let me know if this makes sense.

Unless These "FREE" points aren't FREE.
