Damaged goods on shelves

My wife went to Game in Kenilworth to buy a birthday gift for our nephew yesterday October 5, 2013. When she got home she asked that I wrap it. Upon doing I noticed that the box the remote car was in had writing and a purple sticker on it. The writing in pen said "No antenna" and the purple sticker read exchange item. I then asked her if it was a sale item and she said that she found it on the shelf with the rest of the remote cars. Now one would assume that any item that is returned will not be put back on the shelves. Does this happen all the time? This is not good business. I had to rock up at a party with no gift because of this.
