Soup Mix is sour on the use by day

I purchased a pack of SOUP MIX VEGGIES on Monday, the 30th of September 2013. The sticker on the pack clearly indicated that it should be used by no later than the 01st of October 2013 (yesterday). When I opened the pack last night, the veggies were wilted and it had a VERY SOUR smell.
Can I bring the veggies back? I am NOT HAPPY paying for a product and then when I want to use it (still within the time frame indicated on the pack) the product is wilted & sour.
