After 40 years, this is what Edgars offers

I have had an Edgars store card for nearly 40 years and the balance has been paid IN FULL EVERY month. Now I have received a letter saying that ABSA has taken over Edgars' credit book and my account will be closed owing to "insufficient information on (my) account" and "systems & compliance related matters".
Surely, after 40 years, (during which time I have only changed address twice), if my account information is lacking, it is EDGARS' fault, not mine?? I am not that difficult to contact! But, more importantly, the credit history I have built up over 40 years of managing my account faultlessly will now be lost. So NO Edgars, I will NOT be opening a new one if you unilaterally close my account in this high-handed and consultation-free manner. In addition, I wrote to Edgars on this matter (at 2 different email addresses) 3 days ago, but have yet to receive either acknowledgement or feedback. This is Customer Relations at its very worst.
