Pick 'n Pay
Smart Shopper Points - Rip Off

Shops, Products, Services

I bought 2 punnets of mince yesterday and when I got home and opened them, they were off. You could easily smell the stench coming from the meat. Needless to say I drove 20 minutes to take it back because R63 worth of mince (which is supposed to be edible) is a lot of money.

Anyway, I had also bought a Kenwood Beater/Mixer set.

The lady at Customer Service took the meat back BUT then she asked for my Smart Shopper Card and I gave it to her. When I asked why, she told me they were deducting the points off the card that I had accumulated for the meat when I purchased it. I have a problem with this because:

It wasn't a product that I bought and no longer wanted it (such as an appliance). This is food, this is a fault of Pick 'n Pay's it's not something I, as the customer, decided I no longer need.

In addition, the lady at Customer Service kept my till slip. Now, if I have problems with the Kenwood I bought, I have no guarantee because Pick 'n Pay have my slip. Not only did they deduct points for something that is clearly their butchers' fault (selling off meat), they kept the slip for the Kenwood I also bought.

This is bad form from Pick 'n Pay.
