On 23/08, I wanted to buy a printer cartridge from the Wonderboom Branch. I could get the cartridge online for R106 LESS than the store list price, but had to wait until Tuesday, 27/08 for delivery. As I was just about to catch an international flight, I couldn't wait till the 27th and was hoping that Makro could match my price, like they did in the past. Joe, the Dept. Manager, tried to match, but was still R80 away and promised to get back to me. Alas I'm still waiting for Joe's response till today (03/09)!
On 31/08, I returned to the store, but Joe was not on duty. Walther, a duty manager, when called did not want to assist with matching the price as "he didn't want to lose his job for R80". When he called a senior manager, Riaan Kleinschmidt, Marketing Manager, Riaan's attitude was "we're not interested in doing business with you" when I told him that the R80 means the difference between doing R1000's of business (was looking for a new canvas tent as well) or NO future business. Needless to say, I returned my Makro card and bought the tent cartridge at a non-Massmart store. Joe, Walther & Riaan, your lack of customer care have caused a total boycott of Makro in future!!!
