Manager expect customer to come up with solution

Thank you for this website. I have received a rapid response from Pick n Pay, after I logged the complaint with in 8hours. I went to Pick n Pay Parow as per the request of the manager. On arrival he was very sincere and apologies nonstop and told me about methods put into place for the tellers to be friendlier.
The manager wanted to know from me what would I like him to do w.r.t. my damage goods I had when I got home, before I could answer he handed me a small box of whispers chocolates and walk me out by the door. Telling me not to tell others people. I walked into the shop did some shopping got home and told my husband it was un acceptable for a manager to ask me what I would like him to do w.r.t. the broken/ damages good not give me a change to answer and brows me off like he did.
I felt that the manager should have had a plan of action w.r.t. the broken/ damage goods. He should have not rely on me for an answer and on top of it brows me off like he wanted to get rid of me. I'm a regular customer at that specific branch because I stay 15km from Pick n Pay, but to let me drive out and state my case again and get browse of with a box of chocolates and expecting me to
