Beware of nicely wrapped damaged goods!

On the 24.08.2013 I bought a chest of drawers from Popular Store, initially I was told that the bigger one for R650 was out of stock, however Sindi took me downstairs where the was one hidden in the corner. I saw it from a distance and asked for it to have top drawer. Sindi called his colleague to assist and they failed as the drawers were from the smaller chest, well that was understandable and I was willing to settle for a plain one with no drawers. From that hidden corner the two were fiddling with the chest and wrapped it whilst I patiently sat on a couch as I had so much trust for popular furnisher and this was my second chest from them.
Only to discover that the item was damaged, the chest is falling apart. Last night I was complaining to their management about the item and was suprised to be told that the delivery company should be held accountable, to make things worse management kept insisting that all items are checked before leaving the store. Hello I was in the store and was only given the item wrapped and ready to be loaded in the van. If honesty and intergrity are so vital why is the client not called in when you check the product? I need my money and keep your scrap!!!
