I went to PEPcell GoldenAcre branch last week to buy a cell as a gift as a friend's phone was. I waited patiently in the queue for quite some time. Only one person was at the POS but I noticed at least 2 other employees "working". After a while more customers entered and the cashier proceeded to help customers who were behind me in the queue and who entered the store after I had been waiting for at least 20 minutes! Only after indicating that I wish to purchase a phone did one of the other employees come to assist. They refused to sell the cellphone to me without my purchasing a simcard and Rica-ing and their attitude left much to be desired. I left without buying anything (went to another (reputable) store that doesnt sell phones and bought a simcard with no problem to do a simswap). I will certainly never go into any of your stores again, but am interested to know the wording of the section / regulation of RICA that disallowes the sale of a phone only. I know this is standard practice but does the CPA not say that suppliers cannot bundle seperate goods for no reason? I cant use a sim if I dont "Rica" - I just wanted the cell and to get a simswap via network provider.
