Wrongly Informed and Refusal to correct mistake

I walked into hi-fi corporation on Tuesday (6 August 2013) and asked for assistance in purchasing some recharging batteries for my digital Camera. I told the consultant that my camera does not talk just any ordinary batteries. He then pointed out the batteries to me and i reiterated that it does not take just any kind and he said yet again that the Energizer ones will work. So i took hes word for it, only to find out that he was wrong. Once i got home those batteries he recommended did not work. the following day i took the batteries back to the store and asked for a replacement for the right batteries or a refund but was told that they don't take back open battery containers. I would have excepted this as an answer if i did not ask for assistance before i purchased the batteries but seeing that I asked beforehand and was as specific as i possibly can be at that time, i don't see why i cant bring back a product like that when it does not work for what i purchased it for. To me this is utterly ridiculous, if the consultant did not know he should have asked someone or told me he does not know. To me this is horrible customer service.
