I refuse to pay /- R15 for something that doesn't

On Saturday I bought some banana's and a 4 pack of AA Duracell batteries from The Parkview Spar. On my return home, I put two of the batteries into my toothbrush - it didn't work. I checked out if I had made a mistake. I hadn't and put the toothbrush back together again. It didn't work. I used the other batteries and the toothbrush worked. I took the batteries that did not work back to Spar today and they refused to change them. I don't use that Spar every day and on on Saturday I refused to waste the time getting into my car and schlepping all the way back there. On Sunday I was busy. I managed to get there today to be told that they don't exchange batteries. I refuse to pay for something that doesn't work, even though in the greater scheme of things it's a small amount. The result - I will never walk into a Spar again and I will never purchase a Duracell battery again. /- R15 each is a high price to pay for absolute rubbish.
