Ought incorrect item and cannot get a refund

On Sunday evening 28 July 2013 BETWEEN 19H00 AND 20H00 I BOUGHT 2 vASES @ THE Mr. Price Home store in Canalwalk. this was a gift to our church in memory of my late Mother who passed away about a month ago. Unfortunately the top part of the vases i bought is too small to fit sufficient flowers in and i have misplaced or lost the till slip and they now refuse to give me a cash refund. If they had what i wanted i would have taken it.
When i called the store they said they would be able to give me a reprint of the receipt as I gave them the time of purchase but then shortly after i received a call from thier head office saying that this would not be possible and that i can only exchange the item for something else or a gift voucher.
i find it shocking that they are prepared to loose a valued customer who purchasesthe Mr. Price group regularly and that they are not prepared to assist me also seing that this is the first time i am refunding something @ their store.
i most definitly don't feel like a valued customer and don't see why i have to take a gift voucher when i paid them in cash and yes it is my own fault for misplacing my slip but i am sur e this happens to the everybody
