Defrauding their clients through Gift Cards

My son received a gift that was too big. We returned the item to American Swiss on Saturday 19 January 2013 There was nothing we wanted at Clearwater American Swiss and decided to put the money on a gift card to use at another American Swiss. On Monday 21 January 2013, my son was held by knife point and was robbed of his belongings. After reporting the Armed, I contacted the branch and spoke to Denise the manager. I explained to her what happened and asked her if they can stop the card. She explained that it is not a problem and that they can immediately stop / block the card. However, unfortunately they cannot replace the card or refund us, also confirmed by her Area Manager!!! How is it possible that a big company as American Swiss can immediately stop a card, but cannot refund the client? Very conveniently they now received money from us, but we did not in return purchase anything. If they can block a card, they surely can say that the card was not used and that the money on the card is still available and they can surely then refund the client?? This is blatantly defrauding their clients and enriching American Swiss.
