Leather Nine West Boots are TEARING!

I bought a pair of black knee high leather boots last year. I wore them about 5 times before the end of the winter and have worn them maximum 8 times this winter. I noticed that the finish on the leather was rubbing slightly, and that the sole of the shoes was wearing through very fast. However, this morning when I was putting them on, the side flap tore and when i looked closer, i could see that the boot is tearing from the bottom of wide flap into the main part of the boot itself.

Surely pair of expensive leather boots which i bought for full price should not tear and should last?? I was prepared to spend the money on them because I thought that I would be able to wear them for a few seasons.

I've been wearing nine west shoes since I started working because usually they are great quality. However, this is the second negative experience i've had in the last year, which makes me think perhaps the quality of nine west shoes is no longer what is was. I have at least 10 pairs of nine west shoes at the moment, and have never had a problem before this. What's going on, nine west??
