Sale sign in incorrect place

I walked into Stuttafords Cresta yesterday and at the entrance was a table with shoes with a 50% off sign. I took two pairs of shoes and the assistant scanned them and said they were 35% off as per the sign on the box. I asked what was the sale sign referring to, she said it was to some of the others that were 50%, I then queried the fact that the sign did not say "UP TO 50%", she told me the sign was placed there in error, I then asked for the store manager and he (Shaun) came along and was blatantly rude to me and said to me that the box is marked, and totally ignored the issue of the SALE sign, I asked if I could call the headoffice from the store and he said NO, gave me the number and said I could call myself. I called the headoffice 6 times while I was in Cresta from my cellphone and eventually got through to a lady by the name of Karen who said she would get back to me, still waiting. Now according to the National Consumer Protection Act, I am well within my rights to question the 50% sale sign. I am also appalled that Stuttfords could even have a manager like Shaun in place.
