I had opened an identity store account and gone into the store the weekend previous to sign my agreement and be given a temporary card. When I entered this the I noticed a staff member (potentially the supervisor) and asked what I needed to do/see whom came across unapproachable and pointed to the till. To which I signed the till receipt agreement and was issued with my temporary card, nothing was said to me that with the temporary card you would need to have your South African id book to be able to make purchases in store. Unfortunately there was nothing I wished to purchase so I left the store.

Having returned to the store this weekend and found something I liked I proceeded to the counter where the same women who pointed to the counter previously was at the till. She ignored me and summoned another staff member to serve me. He asked for my ID which I stated I did not carry on me. Finally this woman chirped up stating I would have been told this and that this is standard. I was shocked at how unhelpful she was and how she implied I was lying about being not told. As a new account holder I am left not wanted my store card as identity has a unhelpful staff.
