Guess watch still under guatentee charged fo

On the 24th of March I took my wifes Guess watch (which Ive purchased at the same store) for repairs. It was loosing time from a month before I had a chance to take it in. It was the last day of the guarentee but the sales person told us it was still under guarentee. We were told it would be back within two months, the two months went by and we enquired about the watch. Then we were told to wait yet another month... Today I recieved a call from NWJ store in Brits and was informed that the watch is back from repairs but because it was the last day of the guarentee I would have to pay the repairs - R.500.00.???
I refused to pay because it was undee gaurentee when I took in! But according to them because it only reached the place of repairs after the 12months it is now my problem. The manager said that its no problen and they will send the watch back to the repairers to take out the new parts and put back the old parts. And I guess another 3 months... i will not accept their explanation under any circumstances. If I took the watch in within the 12 month guarentee, i expect them to hold their part of the deal.
