Spar
Exposing customers to potential bank card

Shops, Products, Services

When paying with a SAMBA card at Superspar in Jeffreys Bay, the cashier takes the card out of sight to a card machine to process the transaction, as they do not have appropriate card macines at every till. This makes one easy prey for card cloners and as far as I know it is against the Consumer Act to remove a customer's card from where they can see it. In the past year we have complained to the managers on quite a few occosaions about this, and they have always said they will speak to the cashiers. But next time you go there, same thing happens. Today when I payed with my card and the cashier took it away like so many times before, my daughter again confronted the one manager, Gerrie, about this. His reply was that they do not deal with ABSA and therefore ABSA and SAMBA cards need to be swiped at another point in the store. This is playing right into the hands of. Please can you enforce them in some way to get a card machine for SAMBA and ABSA cards stationed at EVERY till point. In the meantime, me and my friends will not be doing business there. All other shops in town have the appropriate card machines. SPAR really has no excuse. Thanks for your attention.
