We purchased 2 Antonio recliners on 13.01.13 for R5998.00. After one month the one unit callapsed when I leant over to pick up a cup of coffee. I almost went flying into the coffee table if it were not for my counter balance. After contacting the branch manager the units were picked up for assement. He was then told that we do not want the unit repaired and we require a refund, which is our consumer right. Here are the following encounters.
1) Told that it is company policy to repair and not refund!
2) Informed us that the supplier said that the unit was abused, I dont think so at the age of 73 yrs.
3) I explained that the units base is too small as I am a technical individual and that the units are of a inferior make (made in china) which prior to purchase we were not informed.
4) We visited Alberton branch and then was told that we could purchase other goods to the value of the amount less the cost of repair, which we refused.
5) After many emails and phone calls to head office and the regional manager with no feed back.
6) I invited regional manager to meet me and inspect the same unit at his branch, which he refused.
7) The manager of alberton branch fell over after a test.
