After nearly 10 years of service my alarm system needed its board & battery replaced. Including the initial technician call-out, the cost of repairs came to just under R2300.00.
I paid this amount to ADT via EFT (having to add up my invoices as they were unable to supply me with a statement) on 4 April, only for the same amount to be debit-ordered off my account the next day, 5 April.
It took several emails and calls for ADT to acknowledge the double-payment and undertake to give me a refund - this was via email on 3 May (1 month down the line)... now, another month later, they still have my R2300.
My threat of cancelling the service (I am a few months shy of 10 years with them, so long out of any contractual obligation) is apparently of no concern to them as they'd rather hang on to my R2300 and forfeit my R520 a month (which was really money for jam for them as I haven't needed a call-out in over 3 years).
In a way I'm glad I've had this experience otherwise I may have remained blissfully unaware of what a useless service provider I was paying my hard-earned money to.
