Membership suddenly not cancelled anymore

I emailed PMG to terminate our (my wife and I) memberships with them as it was no longer affordable to keep them. I was assisted by Corene van der Berg to do the termination on 20 August 2013 and confirmation emails were sent to me after our telephonic conversation on the above mentioned date.

Today, PMG deducted an amount of R119.00 from my account with the reference "More Golf 581778-pm"

Upon further investigation, I eventually spoke to a lady at PMG accounts only known to me as Jade. She informed me that this is a payment for my wife's membership which is now only suspended and not terminated.

She also told me that a member of the PMG sales/retention team had spoken to my wife on 12 September 2013, and alleges that my wife had told the person to only suspend the membership not terminate it. This is not true as my wife had told the person to speak to me as I administer these memberships for us. Also, when asked to investigate further, she told me that the sales team were not available today and so we could not speak to the person who spoke to my wife.

It is highly frustrating, if not down-right illegal, when a service provider takes subscriptions where it is not due!
