Halo Peter, After cancelling Virgin membership for both myself and wife, Virgin Active has handed over my "account" to Norman&Bisset for collection of R1000 . I have called 2 call centre agents in C/Town who confirmed cancellation of both memberships and paid cancellation penalty. Both claim that my wife's membership was not cancelled as we were both given 2 months of free memberships that we both refused. They have tried to debit my account on numerous occasions which I reversed as I have confirmed in March 2012 that both memberships were cancelled and got refunded for the extra amounts they continued to deduct. A year later I get an SMS from Norman&B claiming to be intructed to collect the amount. The agents are unable explain why the account was handed over when it shows that I HAVE CANCELLED. It is very disturbing that a company like Virgin Active still continue to use underhand methods to force people into contracts, even after cancellation. How can we cancel contracts, pay penalty and confirm the cancellation but still go on and request extension after refusing free membership. Thousands of citizens are listed at ITC because of these crooked practise, PLEASE ASSIST
