Bad experiences at Menlyn Nu Metro during the past couple of months: The sound in a movie disapering in the middle of the movie, the sound being too loud that the dialog is inaudible (Snow White and the Huntsman), Hobbits being tall and slender because the resolution was not set right, lights in the cinema not dimmed (The Hobbit). Self-service kiosks not working (machines faulty, or does not read cards when you want to pay (experienced on 4 occasions)). The last was the worst though. On 18/01/13, after standing in a queue to buy tickets (Taken 2) because both kiosks we tried did not work. The lady who checked the tickets informed us that the movie is not in the cinema indicated on the ticket, that we should go to number 9, and sit anywhere. The previews started, and just kept going, most of them out of focus and skew. After more than half an hour, the screen went blank and the lights back on. Finally they got the movie started and only got it in focus after about 30 minutes. After an hour the movie stopped, lights on, screen blank. We waited for 5 minutes before the movie resumed. This is unacceptable, and should not happen in a cinema which has been running for so many years!
