Enquiry on Debit/O date leads to bank penalties

I am an Annual Multichoice subscriber i.e. I pay my account in full for a year up front.
The Box Office monthly rentals normally go off of my account on the 25/26th of each month, which was my debit order date when I was a monthly subscriber.

Last month I resigned from my old job to pursue a new position, unfortunately I will now only be paid on the last day of the month and the funds will probably only reflect on the 2nd or 3rd of each month. So I phone Multichoice and ask if I can just change the debit order date for the Box Office monthly debit orders, I was WELL informed that the only way of doing this was to change my account to a monthly account, change the debit order date and then change the account back to an annual account, so I kindly decline to pursue this option and advise my wife as such.

Now I see that there was a attempt to pay Multichoice an amount of R3300.72 (for what I am paid in full till the end of the year?) on my bank statement this month, which did not go through and a penalty fee of R115 on my account. The Call Center agent I phoned today advised that I would be liable for this penalty fee because of the comments on my previous call??

Unacceptable.
