Multichoice
Loudness of Adverts on various channels

Recreation & Entertainment

The audio ambient sound level difference between programmes and advertisements on various channels are so far apart that one has to grab for remote controls to turn it down when adverts start, and then turn it up again when normal programme resumes. The differences are sometimes louder than 15dBa, about the level of a small dark barking loudly.

Attempts to address this via forums and FaceBook have no positive outcome. Multichoice refers to the supplier/provider of content as the cause, while viewers are paying MultiChoice as their service provider for the quality of their customer experience. FOX, Channel 125 on the premium bouquet is but one example, while 192, SABC2 is another.
It could be that the main programme level is too low, or that the advert level is too high, or a combination.
It is clear though that MultiChoice is not equalising the different sound levels to an acceptable relationship.
