Our subscription to DSTV's Premium package started in June 2011, and we paid for 11 months upfront to get 1 month free after they had taken their monthly debit order on 1 July 2011. The payment was made on 9 July, and would cover August 2011 - July 2012.

In May 2012, we received messages requesting additional payments from Multichoice. This didn't make sense, as our next annual payment would only be due on 1 August. It turned out that our account status had never been changed to "Annual", and our monthly subscription fees were merely being deducted from the credit the account was in after the upfront payment. After several visits to Multichoice's Cape Town offices, the issue was apparently resolved and we made our next annual payment on 1 August 2012.

We received another message on 26 May 2013, requesting a R125 payment before 1 June. I can only assume that there's been another issue with our account status, but have no faith in Multichoice sorting this out themselves - having a monopoly seems to lead, inevitably, to poor service levels.

Please, please Multichoice: get your house in order. We can't afford to be inconvenienced like this every year.
