Joburg Theatre Looks After Customers

On 26 April I attended a performance of Essence of Ireland. Two loud, rude women arrived late and sat in the row behind us. They talked and chattered so loudly that people in my row attempted to hush them. They became abusive and talked even louder. One person went to complain and an usher arrived to pacify the rude patrons. To no avail. When she left, the insults flew afresh and things got worse. At interval the usher enquired if it was sorted out. Upon receiving a nay, she went to security. The security gent got similar abusive treatment. He fetched a manager who dealt with it firmly, tactfully and most professionally. He and the security gent escorted the (by now) swearing and fuming ladies from the auditorium. Many places are too scared to put their foot down and eject loud/rowdy customers. However, this is not the case in the Joburg Theatre where the comfort of the many comes before the rudeness of the few uncultured patrons who should not have come to a live performance if all they intended to do was talk and use their cell phones. Ten out of ten to Joburg Theatre!
