Accounts handed over after settlement agreement

Our account was handed over for collection while it was under disputed and the collection process continued after we agree to settle the account numerous time. Judgement was granted after several email to settle the account.

Our water account was under dispute for over 2 years, from Jun 2010 till Oct 2012 when a leak was detected, this was discussed with the HOA on a regular basis and they never assited us to find a possible leak. On 26 September 2012 they decided to hand our account over for collection. I again communicate to them that we dispute the account. A leak was detected in October and we had to re pipe the whole apartment, not an easy or quick task. They continued to hand us over and I said we are willing to pay this off, excluding legal fees and would like to request a refund as we didn't detect the leak for 2 years and they didn't do anything to help us. On 3 December 2012 i again email them to arrange for a settlement agreement, like many time before. Yet on the 7 December they continued to grand a judgement against me AFTER i tried to reach a settlement with them.
