What use a franchise?

What is the use of doing business with a franchise if the franchisees are not responsible to the franchisor? Springs Just Letting went bankrupt 18 months ago without informing any clients or paying back tenants' deposits. Just Letting Customer care has been trying to appease me with stories that they will revert with info as soon as the attorneys obtained judgement (in a uncontested case). This was November 2012. In May 2013 I received the exact same story as well as in Aug 2013. If you ask any more questions the silence is deafening.
