Rental agent who's company withholds the truth

This estate agents representative withheld information reagrding crime statistics relating to a rental property, my girlfriend and I were subsequently victums of an armed.
The owner of the agency Martin Verwey is refusing to refund our deposit, passing the buck to the landlord saying he holds the deposit.
The owner was not responsible to relay information relating to the crime problem in the complex and the area, Martin Verwey Properties as the "area specialist" should have disclosed this information, so I believe they should take responsibility and refund the deposit we lost as a result of moving out early due to the armed.
