The Hanover Municipality cut off services to this property and resumed it after "presentations" by tennants regardless of arrears payment not being settled.
I as the owner, living in Port Elizabeth, was never informed that the services were not paid and that they are in arrears. Being far away and receiving rent I was under the impression that all was well because where I live municipal services are terminated if not paid.
However the tennants appeared to have made deals with the municipal officers to resume services without the payment of arrears. unbeknown to me this practice continued from 2009 to end 2012 when I was told on the phone that I owe R57000.00 in services arrears. I immediately went to Hanover and after much shouting to me over the counter I went to De Aar to get some understanding and settle the rates where I was told I have been handed over to Vericred. That was the first word I heard of it. Hanover's excuse was that they did not know where I was, which is a lie. I was never informed by Vericred and the interest rates are astronomical. I have a witness to all of this
