High bill charge for small family!

For a small family of 3 members, we are extremely shocked to get charged such a high amount for May.
If you look at our previous months' bills, you will see a trend of final amounts that do not exceed more than R400 but in May, we received a bill charge of R3404.32! How is that even possible?!

We haven't even been overutilising the resources for any specific reasons. It has been more or less constant throughout the months and we have never had a problem before with being in arrears but this is just ridiculous!

We're struggling to pay this amount and still struggling to pay it.

They have also threatened to disconnect our water services to a 'trickle feed'...that won't seem to make much difference as we have already been experiencing this 'trickle feed' water for the past 2 months (imagine how uncomfortable that is for us in this cold winter not being able to get a warm shower!).

Can someone in the municipality please come investigate the property for possible leakage that could be causing this or at least provide us with evidence and state why it shows us as using so much resources?!
The bill for the month after, being June, shows a balance of R276.91 - the average we're charged
