BMW GPS unable to accept co-ordinates

Really BMW you charge a fortune for your built in GPS units and astronomical amounts for each years updates, however you are not able to put in destination co'ordinates in your units.
You are even able to put coordinates into a basic Garmin.
Please explain why German engineering is so bad.
