Moto-Lube Fourways: Shocking service

Miscellaneous

On 5 April 2013 I took my Mitsubishi Colt 4x4 2.8 for a major service at Moto-Lube Fourways. I collected the car after the service, trusting all was well. A day after the service I heard a knocking noise coming from somewhere underneath the car. I was away on holiday (the reason for having the car serviced) and on my return took the car back to Moto-Lube to find the cause of the noise.

After two weeks of diagnostic investigations I was informed that Moto-Lube and all the other 'experts' they consulted could not locate the problem. I was charged a healthy R513 for the diagnosis, but with no result.

I took the car to E-car in Linden, desperate to find the 'mysterious' cause of the noise. The mechanic at E-car took all of 10 minutes to determine that the prop shaft was so loose that you could manipulate it by hand! He also found that the front wheel bearings and inner and outer tie rod ends needed replacing. He commented on a few other things that had to be actioned to ensure the safety of the vehicle.

I contacted Moto-Lube to discuss this issue, but they refused to consider my complaint, ignored my emails and seemed to shirk all responsibility. Aweful service!
