Ryobi not honouring guarantee

A couple of months ago I took my Ryobi weedeater to Builders Warehouse for repair as it had stopped working. When I later enquired about it, I was told that the repair would cost about R390 even though it was still under guarantee. I said this was unacceptable so the woman at Builders Warehouse phoned Ryobi and let me speak to the person in charge of repairs. He informed me that the motor had burnt out because I used trimmer chord that was too thick, so I would have to pay for the repair! Of all the excuses I have heard, this is one of the most absurd ever! Obviously, this is why Ryobi can offer two-year guarantees on their products; they will use any excuse they can to avoid their guarantee obligations.
